都市空間学研究室（Urban Space）　箕浦准教授

いま私たちの足もとにある地面は、かつて別の時代の人びとが歩き営みを形成していました。当該時代の社会に応じて空間をかたちづくり、つくりかえるというこの行為は、人びとが〈地〉のうえで生きる限り、続けられていきます。このような都市空間における人びとのふるまいにまなざしを向け、都市史研究を行っています。

世界の都市・地域が近代化を遂げていくなかで、固有性（＝魅力）が失われ都市空間が画一化している傾向があります。当研究室では、都市史研究を通して都市文化の実相を解明し、歴史まちづくり活動を通して都市文化の継承に注力しています。

このように都市史研究を軸として、都市空間の過去－現在－未来を見据えた研究活動を行っています。

The ground beneath our feet today was once traversed and inhabited by people of different historical periods, who shaped their livelihoods and social spaces there. The formation and transformation of urban space in response to the social conditions of each era is a continuous process that persists as long as people live on the land. This laboratory conducts urban historical research by focusing on these human practices within urban spaces.

As cities and regions around the world have undergone modernization, urban space has tended to become increasingly homogenized, leading to the erosion of its distinctive characteristics and cultural appeal. In this laboratory, we aim to clarify the actual conditions and dynamics of urban culture through urban historical research. We also engage in historical town development activities (machizukuri), focusing on the inheritance and recreation of urban culture for future generations.

Thus, with urban history as the foundation of our research, we examine urban space across its past, present, and future trajectories.
